~ 2014 Pierre Yves Colin Morey Les Baudines 1er Cru, Burgundy $201
One of the recent shining lights of Burgundy, PYCM balances sulphide, oak and richness with a deft hand, while letting the site speak for itself. Minerally and flinty, Baudines is a Premier Cru site sitting high up on the slope with a cooler position. This comes through in this high tension style.

Crowned best Australian chardonnay at the recent James Halliday Challenge, this is a striking wine. Beautifully sculpted, its intensity and length are impressive. A well-deserved title!

2014 S.C. Guillard Les Corbeaux 1er Cru, Gevrey-Chambertin France $120

2015 Yabby Lake Block 6, Mornington Peninsula Victoria $99
~ The staff favourite at a recent tasting with winemaker Tom Carson. One of the estate’s best wines, this tempts with exotic notes of spice and berries. It’s dense core leads into a silky and savoury tail that is not impeded by the winemakers hand.

2013 Littorai Cerise Vineyard, Anderson Valley California $160
~ Littorai make the best American pinot we have tasted. Winemaker Ted Lemon’s pedigreed CV shows through in the characterful personalities of each of his single vineyard wines. Cerisé is regarded as the ‘sleeper’ of the estate, with incredible structure, life and savoury tones.

2014 Koomilya Shiraz McLaren Vale, SA $69
~ From celebrated winemaker Steve Pannell’s recently acquired vineyard, but whose history runs deep, this vineyard supplied most of the fruit for his first Jimmy Watson trophy back in 1996. This ripe and juicy shiraz is dimensional and complex. Compelling spice notes and fine yet chewy tannin profile lift the wine to another level. Very limited.

2012 Craiglee Shiraz, Sunbury VIC $62
~ An iconic stalwart of the Victorian wine industry, this charming shiraz is a lovely conduit to the past, with a contemporary twist. Pure red fruit and spice with a firm and chewy tannin, this warming wine never disappoints!

2005 Trevallon Cabernet Sauvignon Shiraz, Provence France $144
~ A cult wine of southern France, this impressively aged blend is bold and generous in its depth and intensity thanks to very low yields of organically grown grapes. Its original expression in the south is a welcome and prized addition – ideal for a non-conformer!
