The wines of Montevertine sing of purity and place. Founded by visionary Sergio Manetti who was strongly influenced by iconic Italian winemaker, Giulio Gambelli, Montevertine creates some of the most tactile and sensual expressions of sangiovese. Located in one of the original towns of Chianti, Radda, the current guardian of the estate is Martino Manetti, Sergio’s son.
Martino Manetti has changed little since taking over, a few tweaks here and there maybe. His deep respect for his father, Gambelli and the estate is evident in the continuity of all the wines. These wines are full of charisma, character and a touch of cheek. They speak of their vintage and their piece of Chianti Classico, Radda. While Pian del Ciampolo drinks beautifully upon release, both Montevertine & Pergole Torte will reward with some time in the cellar. So dense and tightly wound is the palate, with age they gracefully unfurl.
2015 is a wonderfully ripe vintage, saved by a hot dry summer. Yields were down due to hailstorms, and the wines are deeply concentrated and fresh. Likewise, 2016 is another great vintage with lifted top notes and a lick more nerve than 2015.

2015 Le Pergole Torte
~sangiovese. Le Pergole loosely translates as ‘the crooked pergolas’. This is a selection of the estates best fruit, fermented in cement then aged for a year in French oak followed by another year in cask.
