Decanters make a lovely gift. Their timeless yet practical pursuit can be appreciated time and time again. They mark all your special moments, be they white or red.
Australian glass artist and printmaker, Brian Hirst creates some of the most visual and tactile wine decanters we’ve come across. His pieces are exhibited throughout the world including galleries in Sydney, New York and Paris – in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
Decanters have been one of his more recent projects, inspired by both old and more recent friendships within the wine industry, which includes a special mateship with Sydney Sommelier, Giorgio De Maria (ex 121 BC & ’Giorgio De Maria Fun Wines’ importer).
Hand blown, these decanters are lovely to hold, moulding to the cup of your hand with an anchor point for both your thumb and finger. These charismatic vessels are durable and a pleasure to use – our decanter of choice here at City Wine Shop.
They’re hand blown and in very limited production, Brian only lights the kiln once every few weeks and everything is made to order. Whilst they can take a little while to produce, they’re worth your patience. To allow extra time, make sure to get your orders in early for Christmas.
