| ~ "NEBBIOLO & MORE" MASTERCLASS WITH BEPPE VAIRA & STEVE PANNELL ~ |
Join one of Australia’s most respected winemakers Steve Pannell (ex chief red winemaker at Hardys) and upcoming Piedmontese winemaker Beppe Vaira in a masterclass exploring the diversity of their portfolios and their masterful handling of the nebbiolo grape.
GD Vajra Barolos are highly regarded for their elegant composure and layered complexity that rewards enormously, given time. Their vineyards are based in the Vergne area, the highest village in the commune of Barolo. Respected wine writer, Antonio Galloni recently rated GD Vajra amongst Piedmont’s ten most underrated producers.
Pannell’s core of wines are richly fruited Rhône style reds and according to Halliday the label is ‘well on its way to icon status’. Sourcing fruit from the Adelaide Hills he is also behind one of Australia’s leading examples of nebbiolo. Having completed a vintage at Vajra he will be able to shed valuable insight into the mechanisms of handling nebbiolo both in Italy and Australia.
Join us for an informative masterclass with Beppe and Steve that includes a bracket of stunning Barolos. A selection of light food will be served.

| ~ FEAST OF ST. JOHN WINE DINNER WITH FERGUS HENDERSON ~ SAT 20 MAR |
With winemakers from Crawford River, Bass Phillip & Craiglee
Acclaimed restaurant St. John is at the pinnacle of British fare, second only to the Fat Duck in the recent San Pellegrino list of Britain's finest restaurants, it was also named the 14th greatest restaurant in the world (2009).
Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver opened St John in Smithfield, London in 1994. Their ‘nose to tail eating’ ethos has attracted devout followers the world over, inspired and intrigued by the adventurous St. John eating style.
Together with Henderson, our Executive Chef, fellow Englishman Ian Curley has devised a feasting menu for the night. To accompany the nourishing food we will be joined by three iconic Victorian wine producers whose wines have been matched to the menu: Pat Carmody (Craiglee), John Thomson (Crawford River) & Phillip Jones (Bass Phillip).
