Third generation Franck Balthazar makes some of the most revered wines from the best granitic plots in Cornas, some up to 100 years old. Not much has changed in his farming over time, with organic practices, horse ploughing and a light hand in the cellar. For this cuvée he’s sourced grenache from further south, producing a plush wine with bright acidity with plum & anise with hints of violets and charcuterie. There’s a subtle depth to the fruit on the palate, with tannins lending a finish that’s long and fine.
