Bandol, located in southern France, is a microcosm of protective hills which stands out against the flats of Provence strolling seaward. Mourvèdre is the reigning red grape, on show in two forms; ageworthy dry reds and savoury rosés. This is the latter.

The top rosé from Chateau Pibarnon, this is made from specific vineyard plots – low yielding, old vine parcels of mourvèdre for the Nuances bottling.  Unlike the estate rosé, this is fermented in clay amphorae and foudre (very large older oak barrels), adding breadth and texture to the palate.  We love its savoury beauty now, but it is a rare rosé made to age if you are able to resist its beauty in youth!
